    Land is an investment. Learn practical steps that can be taken to increase the value of the property you currently own. From upgrades to improving wildlife habitat, there are many ways you can improve the value of your investment.

  • Expanding Your Current Property Size

    So, the property next to you is up for sale. It may be easier to purchase that land than you think! Are you interested in expanding your current property size by purchasing additional land but not sure how to go about it? There are ways to leverage your current land to get financing to make this possible.

  • The How and Why of Leases

    If you lease your land for grazing, hunting, and/or livestock then you can’t miss this session. While a handshake deal may have worked in the past, it’s more important than ever that you protect yourself, your property, and your lessee. Learn tips to get the most out of your leases. Clarity about the leasing arrangement and terms will make this process easier and better for all parties.

  • Protect Yourself: Landowner Liability Strategies

    There are a few simple processes you can put in place to protect yourself from being held liable if an injury occurs on your property. We’ll cover the Texas Agritourism Act and the Texas Farm Animal Liability Act which were put into place to provide signage and other tactics to help reduce your liability risk. Other strategies such as liability insurance and assessing your property for injury risk will be discussed.

    Are you interested in buying land but overwhelmed by what to do first? This informative session will break down the entire process from start to finish. You’ll learn how to initiate interest in purchasing land, where to get financing, when to get a survey, red flags to look out for, and so much more. This is a can’t-miss session for anyone considering buying land.

  • Creative Ways to Buy Land

    Do you have a hunting lease with friends, and you’re all interested in purchasing the land? Would you like to purchase land under a business instead of individually? Purchasing land under LLCs or partnerships might be a good fit for your situation. Learn other ways you can buy land and separate your investment from your personal accounts.

  • 1031 and Reverse 1031 Exchanges

    Rather than paying taxes on your investment property if you plan to reinvest in land, why not utilize a 1031 exchange to transfer the assets and invest them in new property? This process is easier than it sounds, and this session will explain how you might be able to utilize both the 1031 and reverse 1031 exchanges. But don’t sell your current investment property yet! Attend this session to learn if this process is the right fit for you.

  • Investing in Timber: Where to Start

    Timber can be an excellent investment, but there are things to consider that are specific to timber acreage before you make that decision. This session will give you an overview of the timber industry and introduce you to important concepts when considering this investment.
